3rd Edition: Favorite Class?
« Topic Start: November 14, 2011, 08:50:27 PM »
So, favorite class.  Which classes do you get the most fun out of playing/running/making?

Personally, I prefer the Sorcerer.  The idea of a guy descended from a supernatural entity and getting powers from their heritage is pretty damn cool.

I picked Ranger, but none of my actual favorites are from the PHb, so Ranger is partly nostalgia and partly recognizing that I wound up filling that role (skill-based ranged combatant) a lot with my old group.

Of the Core classes, druid is my favorite - power aside, it's just an incredibly fun class.

Always loved rogues, even if they were weak.

Hard to pick just one. Core only, wizard is my favorite. I'm also fond of rogues and druids.

Almost every character I play has at least one level of wizard.  I wish non-core classes were on here, though... :)

I could add "Other," but non-core classes will balloon the list to unimaginable levels.  Counting variant classes alone, there technically over 100 classes by WotC alone.

Then I'd have an even harder time picking one! Warbalde, swordsage, and dread necromancer all pop up near the top on the non-core list for me.

I have to go with wizard myself just because it fits so well with the kind of gaming I like to do.

Out of core, I'd have to say ... to actually play, Sorcerer or Rogue ... to think about, Wizard or Cleric.

Definitely the Bard.  There's just so much one can do with them.

Paladin. I'm a sucker for the class, despite the mechanical problems, how the Code of Conduct can be abused by bad DMs, and the fact that I dislike mounts. These days I use it as a 2 to 5 level part of a greater build, enough to keep the paladin theme without going too far into it. It's my go to for sorcerer gish builds.

I like playing high-CHA clerics, even if I don't go DMM Persist. I love that they start out with a built-in roleplaying hook: converting others and following their god's creed.

My favorite character ever was a DMM Persist high-CHA cloistered cleric, 50 years old.

I love animals IRL, so most of my characters have pets. Because I don't want said pets killed, I go with Druid or Paladin, generally. I must say, though, I love playing the party face - that means prestige paladin, off of cleric or druid (with shenanigans to get turn undead) shows up in the builds I want to play fairly often.

(You know, if you don't want shenanigans to get Turn Undead as a druid, you could always go with the Wild ReaperDragon 311 variant^^)

In my first year of DMing, 75% of newbie players opted for the Barbarian class.

Always loved rogues, even if they were weak.

Same.  The line in their fluff about being many different things but having one thing in common -- getting access to stuff others try to prevent them from getting -- reeled me right in, even if in reality wizards are better at it.  Also really like Monk (just a huge martial arts fan) and Druid (which I only know how to play as kinky sex freaks between turning into animals, having lots of animal friends, and craptons of "bondage" spells...the Thousand Faces is a helluva lot of fetish fuel as well, I might add...).

EDIT: Wow, now I feel bad.  I kinda want to undo my Rogue vote and give monk a pity vote... It is my 2nd favorite...
