Well...my adaptation was to play rogue....heavily augmented with wizard. :)
Everything is edible. Just that there are things only edible once per lifetime.
It's a god-eat-god world.

Procrastination is the thief of time; Year after year it steals, till all are fled,
And to the mercies of a moment leaves; The vast concerns of an eternal scene.

Nobody loves rogue or fighter...  :(
A smile from ear to ear
3.5 is disappointingly flawed.

What are you talking about? Rogue's No. 2 there.

Looks like the paladin got some votes for style, but the fighter and monk are left in the dust for being useless and bland.

Well, the monk also gets style points, but it sucks so much worse that you don't feel like you're actually playing a monk at the table.

WotC! Y U no love monk class?

Bard. First class, one of the most balanced and wonderful in core, skills, spells, buffs, proficiency with a whip. Just got it all.

Outside PHB, Psion.

I just realized now that if it weren't for my Sorcerer vote, that the class would be tied with Fighter and Monk.

What, no love for the Sorcerer? :bigeyes  He's, like, three tiers about those other two!

I freaking hate playing sorcerers. They don't have enough skill points to be unique. They are just a ball of spells with some flavor. They get no class features and are frankly shafted in every way compared to wizards. I feel a little hamstringed while playing one, Tier 2 or not.

I love bard's do anything and not have people get pissed at you for stealing their thunder abilities. (that and the ability to make run on sentences)

Outside of core though binder is my favorite.

All my favorites are outside core...

My first 3.5 character was a fighter, and I also enjoyed a monk. Neither one had the problems optimizers cite, mostly because the fighter was a dirty cheater (Due to our ignorance of the rules) and the Monk got by for awhile on excellent rolled stats as well as a decent build objective bolstered by some 3.0 material (Oriental Adventures).

Go sorcerer!  It has the strength of wizard, but restricted so I can shine but still face a great many challenges.  I'm forced to think creative with the use of the spells I do have, and my greater spells per day and ability to pick on the fly suits my inherently spontaneous playstyle of being able to pop the right tool for the right job at the right time.  PF Sorcerers are even better as they now have class features to go with the spellcasting type I prefer (and really, I suppose its less my favorite class is sorcerer than my favorite spellcasting system is sorcerer... poor sorcerer has no class features!)

Alright I admit they are the simplest, but no body has anything nice to say about the good old fighter. All right I admit I voted for wizard, I love variablity.

I am being a heretic here, but I voted for the Fighter.

At the first year I learned 3rd edition (and before I learned about the Caster Supremacy), I spent a lot of time thinking about Fighter builds. Then, I played a Wizard, read the Guide to Being Batman, and everything changed. However, I still have a place for the Fighter in my heart.

Bard. You are so awesome that it radiates onto your teammates, who in turn become so awesome that that anything that stands in their way gets burned by dragonfire.
You can get more money, but you can't get more time. Unless you're a Chronomancer.

My favorite class is the Beguiler!!  But of the core choices I'd probably have to go with Ranger, slightly nudging out the Rogue.

Cleric for versatility. Based on Domain and spell choice you have almost infinite variation in both mechanical and fluff based concepts. Pretty much the only thing you can't do is be a skill monkey and Cloistered Cleric takes care of that (admitedly not a factor in this poll but even without CC it's still a ridiculously versatile class.)

Druid and Wizard can also do pretty much anything mechanically but my experience is that  they tend to feel pretty much the same fluff wise no matter what they do (not to say that there isn't lots of fluff potential in those classes, it's just not in synergy with the mechanical aspect in quite the same way.)

Voted cleric, but bard is a close second.  I love buffing.  You get to be so awesome that everyone around you is awesome by association!
I'm not arguing, I'm explaining why I'm right.
